Heart-print pyjama top and long trousers from style 1268 laid flat

How to Measure a Pyjama Set You Own and Compare It With a Size Guide

If a pyjama top you own fits the way you like, it is a better starting point than a letter size alone. Our product guides list finished garment measurements in centimetres; they are not body measurements. This quick check helps you compare like with like before choosing S, M, L or XL.

What you need

Choose a similar top and pair of bottoms that fit you well, a flexible tape measure and a flat surface. Smooth the garments without stretching them. Write down the size label for reference, but use the measurements to make your comparison.

1. Compare the top's bust

Lay the top flat. Measure straight across the chest at the underarm area, then double that flat width to estimate the garment's full bust circumference. Compare that figure with the Bust column on the exact product page. For example, a flat width of 45 cm corresponds to about 90 cm around the garment. This is a comparison method, not a promise that two different cuts will feel identical.

2. Compare the bottom's waist

Lay the waistband flat and measure across it in its relaxed state. Double the result and compare it with the guide's Waist figure. If the waistband is elastic, also consider how your existing pair feels when worn: the relaxed measurement alone cannot describe its stretch or comfort. Compare shorts with shorts and trousers with trousers where possible.

3. Check each length separately

Top length, short length and full trouser length answer different questions. Compare the corresponding garment you own with the same measurement named in the product guide. A long-trouser length is the full trouser measurement, not an inseam. Our long-trouser guides currently list S 97 cm, M 98 cm, L 99 cm and XL 100 cm; shorts and other cuts have their own lengths. Check the individual style before ordering.

4. Read the measurement note

Some of our newer guides use one size measured from the garment, with other sizes graded as estimates. The note below each guide identifies the measured size and allows for manual-measurement variation. For instance, the L measurements on our Heart Print Square-Neck Pyjama Set, style 1268 were taken from the garment; its S, M and XL figures are estimates. Use the figures as a guide and compare them with a similar set you already enjoy wearing.

Before you choose

  • Check the guide on the specific colour and style you want; do not transfer measurements from another design.
  • Look at both top and bottom measurements. One letter size applies to the set, but your preferred room may differ between the pieces.
  • Review what is included in the set and the full checkout total, including delivery, before payment.

If a measurement is unclear, contact us with the style number and the measurement of a garment you own. For a broader introduction to choosing a set, read our pyjama set buying guide.
